Most of New York is laid out in regular grid-shaped blocks, devised by 19th century city planners, making it an easy city to find one's way around in.

  Lower Manhattan below Fourteenth Street is an exception to the rule, and even native New Yorkers get lost among these narrow twisting streets, pathways and odd corners that can be found in Greenwich Village.
