| After
closing the studio on Broome Street on July 31 due to high rent, the
studio contents were packed into a truck that was then parked at the truck
rental parking lot until Minerva found a new space on the fourth
floor of 91 Canal Street with cheaper rent, and Gordon Fitch signed the
lease on August 19.
Robert Haisley designed and built platforms and
installed lighting. Everyone volunteered to help and the studio opened
for all sessions on September 20.
It is the best studio yet, and everyone loves it. We
do need more drafting tables and folding chairs. Friday nights will
go till 9:30, and Tuesday nights will have male models only.
All cards are honored. Replacements for lost, stolen,
washed or misplaced cards.

Earlier in the afternoon, 2:00 to 4:00 pm, on October 20th.
Meet at the 6th Street Overpass and East River Bikeway ... to draw clothed
models in order to draw attentionto the City's plan to cut down trees
in the park, part of the coastal flood resiliency project. Resist,
rain or shine.
(The Sunday 1:30 Portrait session at the studio meets as usual.)

Drawing
Draw from the model all day, every day, and six
evenings a week in NYC.
Learn to draw the figure by relating disarticulated
bones to the living body in Minerva Durham's drawing classes Saturdays
and Thursdays at 9:30am and Wednesdays at 1:00 and 6:00.
Bring soft vine charcoal, an 18" x 24"
newsprint pad and enjoy long and short poses, gestures and croquis
in figurative drawing workshops in the company of serious and
congenial artists at all levels of skill development.
Beginners are welcome. Walk-in, first-come, first
served.
Spring Studio located at 91 Canal Street, corner Eldridge Street,
in historic China Town. It is an 'open' drawing studio.
We have three 3- hour figure drawing sessions
per day (two on Sunday), one in the morning, one in the afternoon
and one in the evening.
We offer drawing, anatomy, and portrait instruction
at no extra fee in 8 classes. Artists who use watercolor, pen
and ink, charcoal are accommodated.
There are no per-month contracts; if you miss
a class you do not pay for it.
The art studio is convenient to most subways. |
