An Exhibition of New Works
Drawings

The pieces in the current show reflect my lifelong fascination with the dramatic properties of the human figure. I take as my point of departure the work of Auguste Rodin, whose sculptures, TheBurghers of Calais and The Gates of Hell, present the human figure at its most turbulent and expressive.

I also find inspiration inthe work of the great comic book illustrators Alex Raymond, Neal Adams, and Gene Colan, who have brought into our popular culture powerful and imaginative interpretations of the elegant musculature of the human body.

Although I base the drawings in the current show on the work of previous artists, I have interpreted and rendered the subjects in a style, and with a sensibility, that is genuinely and sincerely my own.

The exhibition was on view from January 2 through January 27, 2001.

The Opening Receptionwas held on January 4th from 6 to 8 PM.

Mr. Lerer is available for panel discussions and interviews.
