This view from the 14th floor of the Alexandria (West 72nd Street and Broadway in Manhattan) is painted with a sense of awe before the tireless life beat of Broadway day and night. I lived several months at this address, gazing, amazed out the windows toward Columbus Circle and Lincoln Center. The light became an obsession. Every wall and person and car was transformed in color and value within minutes by the changing sunlight. South

Manhattan Roofs Painted from the rooftop of the Alexandria (West 72nd and Broadway), this little oil painting captures the twilight colors of tall Manhattan roofs and the Hudson River flowing swiftly by. As the sun sunk low, yellow ocre walls turned to luminous oranges, light blues to deep violets, and rust bricks became dark english red - leading me deeper into color exploration. Rooftops

The West Side This picture, painted from a coffee shop over many weeks, shows the entrancing interplay of sunlight on buildings and people in Manhattan. I enjoy watching people coming and going in the streets in New York and trying to summarize their activity in a few specific frozen moments. West
