—May 1st thru December, 2001— Elinore Schnurr was recently featured in "Painting the Town: Cityscapes of New York," a book of paintings from the collection of the Museum of the City of New York, edited by Jan Seidler Ramirez and published by Yale University Press. The accompanying exhibition "Painting the Town" is currently at the Museum of the City of New York and will be on view until December 2002. It includes Schnurr¹s painting, Katz's Deli, 1991. Elinore Schnurr will participate in "Art Frenzy," an art, music and performance event in Western Queens. OPEN STUDIO: Elinore's studio at 10-09 50th Avenue in Long Island City will be open 11 a.m. - 6 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, during the weekend of May 19 - 20. —July 20th thru October 22nd, 2001—In 1949 Robert Motherwell coined the term New York School for postwar American artists who abandoned representational painting for abstract forms, shifting the art world's focus from Paris to New York. An exhibition of the New York School is currently running until October 22, 2001, at the Norton Simon Museum in Los Angeles. On view in "The Chromatic Eye: New York Paintings and Prints from the 1960s" will be 45 works by four artists who knew and influenced one another: Helen Frankenthaler, Ellsworth Kelly, Kenneth Noland, and Frank Stella.
