Julia Foote, Painter -- I chose to paint the back of the cathedral, in Paris, to show the lovely flying butresses making huge masses of rock look incredibly light and also to emphasis Notre Dame's lyrical island location. Shadows loomed up the walls and music swelled to the rafters.
